"That's true," the Bieberite admits. He (?) interrogates the computer
which tells him that the only person to have visited you before they
arrived was Mavra. The Bieberite also admits that tampering with computer
records isn't easy. It would require a clearance code that there was no
way you'd know. This seemed to have satisfied the other two aliens the Bieberite was with, though you got no form of apology from the one that almost outright accused you of murder. This doesn't bother you, as you're glad they now seem to think you're innocent, and therefore more likely to help you. "I think it's a case of 'you're next if you don't get off this starbase'," Mavra says to you. "Why go to all this trouble, if they just wanted me dead?" you ask. The Bieberite answered this one. "Well, I expect Xorn told you about how we owed a lot of our technology to the humans? Well, the teleport system on this starbase is actual technology salvaged from a wrecked Terranian cruiser. Though the police can override the majority of the safeguards in regards to teleporting living matter, there is one that they can't. It's so intergrated into the system that it's feared it would never work again if any attempt was made to override it." "They can't teleport humans?" "Exactly. It's a well-documented fact that the humans used slaves from different races on their ships. This in-built safeguard meant that, should the slaves attempt to rebel, they couldn't use the teleport system against the humans themselves." One of the other aliens interrupts and says nervously, "This information is all well and good, but can't we just get out of here? The police could be along any moment."
