Well, it's not a foe.....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 921

The wolf growls, but doesn't advance on the scared foxes. The foxs then smell the distinctive odor of the wolf's marked off territory, and then grin a hangdogged grin and back off. Animals though they are at the momment, they aren't stupid enough to try to take on the much larger and more massive wolf.

Soon, however, the foxs soon forget about the wolf, and like the animals they are tonight, soon get . . . . friendlier! They find a secluded spot under a tree and eventually fall asleep. The two anthopomorphic foxs awaken to find themselves in each others arms. They yelp and push away from each other. They sputter and brush out the leaves and twigs that have gotten in their pelts. They both jump as they hear a deep chuckling behing them.

They both turn and see a seven foot tall silvery humanoid wolf standing behind them, shaking it's head. The wolf is male by appearance, and looks rather amused by the couples discomfort.

"Loam, what ARE you doing here?!" Alicia nearly screams.

"I believe I should be asking that, Alicia." the wolf laughs. "You are in MY territory, after all. Not like it matters, but when I'm in my full wolf form . . . . I might have made things painful. Wouldn't have meant to, but you know....."

"Yes, I do know." sighs Alicia sadly. "We lose all control when the moon's full. And our animal natures decide what happens....."

"Would he have killed us?" Fred asks in a shakey voice. He vaguelly recalled something about a huge wolf last night . . . . along with other things.

"No, no! You might have been banged and cut up from it all." chortles the wolf. "Only thing that can really kill us is silver. Goodness knows there's none of THAT stuff on the island. I take it that your new around here?"

Introductions are made. Fred learns that the foxs, the wolves, the cats seperate into their own little villages around the time of the full moon. Though they can't kill each other, the injuries they can inflict on each other while under the control of the beast can be PAINFUL!! Fred also learns that Loam was a peasant from his home country, and is more than comfortable with the "leveling of the playing field" because . . . . well, theire aren't any social classes here like their used to be (at least none that Loam will acknowledge . . . . and would you argue with a seven foot tall mass of muscle, claw, and teeth?!)

"Oh, and congrats about the kits!" laughs Loam as he goes off on his way.

"'Congrats on the kits?!'" Fred asks in shock. "That wasn't . . . ?"

"No, it wasn't, Fred." Alicia sighs. "It happened, and more than likely . . since it was my time . . . . Loam is right!"

What can they do now? I mean really?

  1. Decide to shack up.....
  2. Fred can freak out about the turn of events (hey, that would be totally understandable under the circumstances!)
  3. Run of as they hear some warning about approaching humans!
  4. Something else?
