Changes

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 82753

The diet in the prison is fairly bland, but high in protein and nutrients. With no drugs handy and little to do but exercise and eat, Paris does both.

The changes first manifest themselves as more padding on her buttocks and thighs, making the thin prison mattress of her cell's bunk much more comfortable. Paris weirds out the guards and the other inmates by asking them if she's gaining weight.

"In all the right places, honey," says one older inmate.

Naturally, she doesn't completely comprehend that she's actually beginning to look less like a methed-out stick-figure and more like a normal, healthy human being. At least not at first. She slowly stops fretting about the extra mass, however, when she notices that she's not tiring out in the prison laundry anymore, and can do fifty or sixty pushups without wearing completely out where before she couldn't do three. In the shower, another inmate made unwelcome advances, and she successfully rebuffed them by the simple expedient of breaking the woman's nose.

Afterwards, she sits in her cell in Solitary, quite without fear. Now she was master of her world, and she was not quite sure what to do next.

But she would think of something.

  1. With powers of mind and body nearly approaching human norms, she tries to break out.
  2. Later, after her release, she assumes a superheroine persona: "Near Normal Woman."
  3. She gets out and loses her muscle, intellect and health in a week of hard drugs and booze. Let's follow her collapse!
  4. She wakes up to find a Monolith in her cell. .
