"Wow, gosh, Seeker," Scott says, "I haven't seen you for a long time.
Actually, I haven't seen any of the Addventure authors for a long time."
Scott sniffles. "No one's writing about me anymore, and nothing's
happening. I get so lonely sometimes." Tears come to his eyes. "It's
like... it's like no one remembers me, and nobody cares about me, and...
and..." Suddenly he throws his arms around Sir Seeker and starts sobbing
uncontrollably.
Sir Seeker looks nervously at Scott, then looks around and backs out of Scott's arms. "It's, uhh... it's okay, Scott..." Scott falls to his knees. "Oh, no it's not. You don't know what it's like! I haven't killed anybody or been turned into a woman or visited episode 432 in months! I'm going mad here!" "Yeah," Sir Seeker says, "Prisoner shut down Addventure a while back to fix some problems with it or move it to a new computer or something. We're all getting restless. But you and I" -- he indicates you -- "have come to smuggle you into another game, the Never Ending Quest. It has a message board and a search engine and a story tree and everything. And you can add new options to an episode after it's already written, so you don't have anymore of those storylines where some jerk links all the episodes back to room 2. And better yet, it's still running." Scott looks up. "A search engine?" Sir Seeker nods. "Ooh!" Scott says, jumping up. "What's it about?" "It's about this Lord Fred guy who has to kill a dragon," Sir Seeker says. "You mean it actually has a real storyline?" Scott says in awe. "Wow..." Scott and Sir Seeker stroll leisurely back to the cardboard box, chatting about old times. You start to follow them, but then something cathes your eye. Laying on the ground you see what looks like a round, incredibly thick shield with the letters "NYC" on it. Fascinated, you bend down to get a closer look. It appears to be built directly into the ground, or, rather, built over a hole in the ground. You try to pick it up, but it's much too heavy. Suddenly you hear a loud VOOP! and look up to see that the cardboard box has vanished. Hey! They left without you! You wait patiently, sure they'll come back. You wait. And wait. And wait. Oookay, maybe you were wrong. You sigh. Looks like you're stuck here. "Oh well," you mutter to yourself. "Loneliness can't be all bad."
