The Naughty Plant Beast
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 38482

The dryad beasts shrieked as Astra's kick punctured the juggernaut's
flesh. Green blood and muscous erupted in great foaming bursts as the
massive creature quavered in agony, screaming uncontrollably from all of
its orifices. Almost at once its tentacles whipped at Astra, knocking her
to the ground and wrapping around her ankles to lift her up into the
air. "Astra!" Fred exclaimed, racing toward her. Along the way, he grabbed
a fallen tree branch that was acceptably sharp at one end. Reaching the
plant-beast he jabbed the branch into the creature's side and, dodging the
snapping of its voracious mouths, began to climb up toward Astra. Each
time he got a good grip he pulled the branch out and stabbed it further up
along the plant beast's bulk. The beast roared in horrible pain as it
shook Astra in mid-air. "Astra, hang on!" Alexis yelled, running up and throwing a rock at one of the dryad-beasts - it struck it in the forehead, splitting open its fragile skull with a juicy burst of green brain matter. It gave a high- pitched squeal and fell to the ground, dead. "I'll save you, Astra!" Fred screamed, climbing up to jab his branch into another dryad's face. That was when a cluster of tentacles wrapped around his arms and lifted him up into the air next to Astra. Fred roared in impotent rage "Astraaa!!!" "Fred, Astra!" Alexis cried in frustration. She threw another rock, but it went wide. "Bob, where the hell are you? What are you doing?!" "I'm right here." came a voice from the bushes. "Shh! You'll give away my position! I'm planning a surprise assault from the flank." "You're hiding, that's what you're doing! You coward!" "Alexis, when you say words like that, it hurts my feelings and only breeds mutual resentment." The tentacles began to lower Astra toward one of the snapping mouths. "Astra! Catch!" Fred yelled, twisting about desperately to let the branch fall in the general direction of Astra. It landed in her hands - just as the mouth began to snap shut around her...
