An Earth-like Planet

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 32375

As I approached the yellow star, I was able to see - or rather my sensors were - that it had several planets. One of them was emitting the right amount of infrared radiation to indicate that it would have a suitable temperature for supporting carbon-based life forms. I set my course for it, and when I was close enough found that it was a close match to Earth (that's humanity's original planet, in case you don't know) in terms of mass, proportion of oxygen in the atmosphere, and having plenty of water in liquid form. Nor did the atmosphere seem to contain any toxic gasses.

  1. I detected radio transmissions well before I got close enough to see the cities. This planet evidently had an intelligent species inhabiting it.
  2. A detailed examination of the surface from an altitude of a few thousand kilometres failed to show any sign of intelligent life.
  3. A detailed examination of the surface from an altitude of a few thousand kilometres failed to show any sign of intelligent life. [Alternate Version]
