From where I stood in the corner, I could see through the viewport the
nearest warship dispatch a shuttle craft to dock with us. That did not
concern me. I knew that Aresia would know what to do.
Five minutes later, four officers of the WSN - three men and a woman - came onto the bridge. Their eyes widened in surprise at the attractive young redhead sitting in the captain's chair, and at me standing impassively in the corner. "According to our records," their leader said, "the captain of this ship is a Fred Donair." They would have been able to see the Vellus's name and registration number prior to coming aboard, of course. They would then have been able to determine the name of her captain from the mother ship's computer, as it would have had access to a database containing details of all registered vessels. "That's right," Aresia replied, fixing her blue eyes on the Westonians. "I'm Captain Donair's niece. He lets me take the controls whenever he feels like having a break. You've searched the ship and found nothing suspicious, and you are going to return to your vessel and report that we are clean and should be allowed to proceed. Also I'd be very grateful if you wouldn't tell anyone that I'm aboard. After all, that's not important."
