Hannah didn't recall Belboz's name, though, try though she might. She had had one encounter with him, sixteen years ago--an encounter that shaped her entire life afterwards, but just one, and a very brief one at that. She just barely recognized him, and felt compelled to go along with his explanation of who he was, as the rest of her people willingly threw themselves down and worshiped him. He asked to speak to Hannah privately, however, and the people watched, wide-eyed, as she compliantly followed him to the secluded beach on the other side of the island. There, he stood still, surveying her, and she dared not move, having no idea what to say or what he was thinking. She now appeared as a beautiful woman standing at 5'2" with long hair black as the night sky, in a thick braid adorned with flowers that surpassed her waist. She wore a dress made of animal leather and large leaves from the palm trees that grew on the island. Her feet bore simple sandals. Eventually, he said, "You have become a truly beautiful young woman. Are you married?" "No, Tihena," she replied, surprising herself by how subservient she felt to him. "It always felt... wrong. And fortunately, our people have no stigma against unmarried women." The man nodded. He looked so... foreign to her, with his light skin and extremely tall stature, not to mention his attire. "Are you happy here, my dear?" She was, truly, but she felt she shouldn't be. And in any case, she had no idea how to respond. Tihena waved a hand, saying, "Speak the truth," and her tongue was loosened, leading the reply, "Yes, very" to fall from her mouth. "I'm so glad to hear it." He smiled. "Do you even remember me, girl?" "Yes, Tihena, though I cannot recall much, including your true name." "Do you realize that you now speak a language different than the one you knew in your past life?" It had occurred to her to wonder, though she'd never been able to tell the difference. She shook her head. "I'm sure, in any case, you'd like to know why I'm here." "Yes, Tihena." He said, "I have come to
