Belboz vanished then, leaving Fred alone and in control of his feminized body--a combination he (she) had never known. She placed a hand over her swollen belly, immediately feeling nauseous, but a thrill of hope surged inside her. Of course, as she quickly learned, the "safeguards" Belboz had mentioned included not allowing her to travel outside Hannah and Henry's property. His tamperings didn't stop there, though; as Fred quickly discovered when Hannah's baby began to cry, motherly instinct was coming very naturally to her. She immediately ran to the child's cradle and began to breastfeed her. Fred was torn between feeling physically ill and bubbling with overwhelming love for the infant. Henry definitely noticed some sort of change in his wife, but he'd been with her through many pregnancy-induced mood swings and lots of strange behavior, and she was still an attentive mother, and he spent a large portion of his time out working, so he didn't make a big stir. Fred wished he would. She quickly came up with the story that her back had been hurting and it would be better for her to sleep on the couch than in their bed. He acquiesced, and Fred had to try to hide the back problems this arrangement truly gave her, in addition to dealing with the constant morning sickness, strange cravings, general nausea, and fatigue. Their child's due date came and went, and as they approached the nine-month-and-one-week mark, Fred was waiting for Henry to say something.
