As Fred soon discovered, all their friends seemed to have been magicked the same way. Nobody in the village was going to find this unusual. And Fred found herself unable to speak about it. If she opened her mouth to try, nothing came out.

Many months passed. Movement was difficult, she frequently felt sick, and nothing was as it should be. Her children kept talking about how excited they were about their new brother or sister. How long could this possibly go on?

Fred had been stuck seven months pregnant for about a year--so, she'd spent twenty-one months straight pregnant--when Belboz finally appeared again at her door. She immediately punched him in the nose, not caring that Henry was right there and totally appalled at her behavior. It was only made worse when Belboz only responded by smirking. "Henry, I would like to have a word with Hannah," was all he said, and Henry nodded stiffly and left the room.

Belboz said, "I'll get right to it. I've come to tell you that

  1. your pregnancy will resume as normal, and it will be the last one."
  2. your pregnancy will resume as normal, and I'm putting Hannah back in control."
  3. your pregnancy will resume as normal."
  4. I've decided you'll spend the rest of your days seven months pregnant."
