Fred sagged, feeling enormous relief at the idea of getting a break from being pregnant. She was going to respond, but Belboz promptly said, "That's all I came for. You're welcome. Goodbye." And he vanished. Sure enough, the pregnancy began to progress again, and nobody in the family or the village thought anything of it. Two months later, Fred/Hannah went into labor, and soon enough she was shown her new children: her first set of twins. As Fred held them, she felt love like she'd never felt before. And all of a sudden, she understood Hannah's desire to keep having children. She had brought these tiny ones into the world and given them life; it was the most sacred thing she had ever done. If she could keep doing it, well, how could she refuse? The family had fourteen children now, and while before that had been a nightmare for Fred, now it was a blessing. She spent as much time with the children as she could, and of course, with there being so many of them, it was never enough. But nobody could say she didn't do her best. And soon enough, she was pregnant again. With Fred in charge, Belboz had put him under the same spell he'd cast on Hannah--a spell of absolute motherly love. The more children she had, the more exhausted and busy and attached to her family the former knight would be, the less likely she'd ever attempt to find a way out of it. It was perfect. Years passed like this. Fred was happy, even contentedly thinking of himself as Hannah. The family continued to grow. And then...
