The Never Ending Quest - Episode 104502

Fred the mermaid took a deep, long breath, simultaneously relishing the presence of the gills on her neck and being revolted by them. She opened her eyes, and saw Melody floating in front of her, looking ridiculously pleased with herself. "The best part of this," she said, "is that mermaids can grant wishes only for humans. Even if you were to get another of our kind to like you enough, he or she couldn't restore your true form." She laughed gleefully. "Enjoy!"

She was gone in a flurry of bubbles before Fred had time to blink, the poor unfortunate soul. After crying a little for herself—not that anyone who happened to be passing by would have been able to tell—she began to swim. Progress was slow at first, but she gradually got used to her new tail.

The first noteworthy thing she saw was...

  1. what appeared to be a small colony of merfolk.
  2. a wrecked ship on the seafloor.
  3. a strange castle, in which she could just make out a creature that was like a mermaid, only instead of half fish she was half octopus.
  4. a couple of sharks that were eyeing her in a way she didn't like.
