The Never Ending Quest - Episode 105603

Fred swam cautiously inside the odd castle to get a closer look at the equally odd creature. She seemed to be an overweight, blue-skinned woman from the chest up, and below that, she was an inky black octopus.

"Hello, my dear!" the creature gushed on seeing Fred. "What a pretty thing you are. Do come in. What can I can do for you?"

Fred looked at her in puzzlement, and the creature said after a moment, "Oh, I see. Are you not from around here? My name is Narissa, and I am a sea witch. When merpeople are truly in a pinch, they come to me for help. Of course, my magic works only when something is given in return. I thought you were a customer."

Fred perked up a bit. "Magic? Could you even change someone's shape?"

Narissa chuckled. "Wait, don't tell me—you want to be human." Fred nodded. "I had a cousin once who got that. Worked out okay for the girl; not so much for my cousin." After a thoughtful moment, the sea witch continued, "I can help you, but at a price."

"Wait," said Fred. "I also want to be a man."

Narissa stared at the mermaid for a long moment. "Merkids these days," she muttered under her breath.

  1. "I can do one or the other—you must choose to be either a merman or a human female. You will pay me first, though; you must retrieve an item that I lost long ago."
  2. "I can change you into a human male to last till the day you die, but you must give me your eyesight."
  3. "I will turn you into a man permanently, but first you must complete a task for me."
  4. "I can change you into a male, but changing your species is probably not a job I will be able to complete. I can replace your tail with legs, at least. As payment, you must come to visit me every now and then—I get so very lonely."
  5. "I will turn you into a man for three days. You must share a kiss of true love before the end, and the price is your voice."
  6. "Actually, I lied—I'm not doing anything for you, and you will stay and serve me forever. Bwahahahahah!"
  7. "I can change you into a man, but it won't last. Every night when the sun sets, you will revert to your true form: a mermaid. As payment, you will live with me during your time as a mermaid, doing some chores and keeping me company."
