Aeryn Sun “We don’t want to have Zhaan sacrifice herself again like she did last time, right?” the strange pale woman with the wings on her back asks me rather pointedly. And who in the hezmana does this tralk think she is using that tone of voice with me?! Here she and her “sisters” come into the picture from nowhere, all high and mighty and . . .turning everything upside down. Rather like another Earthling I could mention named Crichton First instinct for me was to start yelling at this woman for having dared take that tone of command with ME, Aeryn Sun of the Peacekeepers like I am some kind of mindless grot... Then I have to realize something. She’s . . . Right. I and John have been wasting precious TIME here. Time we can’t afford to waste. Not again. I cannot even stomach the thought of Zhaan sacrificing her life . . .for us. For ME, again! It should have been me, the first time around and not her. I am a soldier. It’s what I was bred and born for. She should have... "Let's go," I say softly but firmly. “But you will tell me who you and your friends are, understand?” The last part is non-negotiable. Something is definitely OFF with these three. Something that put me on edge at the get go... Something offputting for me. “Of course,” the blue winged girl smiles slightly. “But on the move.” Rei “Uh Aeryn . . .I think you kinda pissed her off,” Crichton discretely mutters to his long standing love interest. Still, it’s loud enough to be overheard and I must say . . .John you don’t know the half of it! They had to do it. I mean just HAD to do it. Or should I say Aeryn Sun had to do it. Who was SHE to sneer at me and my sisters when John mentioned in his babblings about we “First Children” having been the “sword and shield for mankind”? Seriously? Simply put she has no bloody right to sneer considering that SHE hadn’t been there and without her precious starfighter of hers (which as I recall got trashed earlier on a planet with that Diagnosian) then I doublt she could have done diddly against the Angels during the Angel war. Of the three billion humans remaining on our perspective Earths they’d only found a grand total of FOURL people who could make the EVA units fight effectively. Four who had been found fit enough, anyway... The entire class of fellow students back at Tokyo 3 had been deemed potentials, but still . . . Fear that this Sun has a bit less tact than “mine”. Or maybe the stress is getting to her? I’ll make allowances . . .for now. But much more and we shall have a “one on one” session and don’t fear I’ll be easy meet, dear Aeryn Sun! You’re a fine PK soldier and good in hand to hand but I’ve been trained by some of the more talented people out there. INCLUDING your analog. In other words don’t expect to wipe the floors with me during our “sparing session”. “Sigh, and we’d started out so well...” I mutter to myself. Still, isn’t like EVERY First Encounter can go without a hitch. Could say that “Second Impact” (what amounts to the root of the Angels War) is proof of that!
