One SHOULD not linger long after stealing the egg of a dragon...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 73450

Who? Well, it has something to do with a bunch of stork feathers and a delivery notice (and apology) from some place named Xanth. That and a summoning and magicks to garner great power…

Of course, none of the others are aware of that.

Rei

"Okay, now this is getting weird," I overhear the red headed woman who calls herself 'Astra' mutter.

Got to admit that she's somewhat right there. Could say that it is not everyday that things like that happen but then again . . .since when has anything today been "normal"?

Well, strange or not there are things that must obviously be done here and just standing around and gapping isn't getting them done! While there are a LOT of things to still sort out we need to do it on the MOVE.

Frankly, even now I am not sure exactly my sisters, friends and associates know how incredibly dangerous a dragon can be if their offspring are threatened or otherwise monkeyed with. Something that was merely hinted at with the rage that Mina and Alan went into when Reika got almost kidnapped by the G-man’s goons (re: 62202). IF I had not been the one to arrive first and kill those kidnappers (an act that I cannot say I feel much regret over having unfortunately been created as to be a child soldier and . . .other things), I fear that what my parents would have done would have been . . .much worse.

Yes, I know. Casting a lightning bolt spell upon those kidnappers was hardly anything short of lethal and was MEANT to be lethal! Remember, while I have come a LONG way in recovering from what that bastard Gendo Akari did to me--rearing me to be a child soldier as what Pilot for Unit 00 entailed the least of it--left me little in the way of being squeamish over violence still does not mean what I unleashed upon Reika’s kidnappers (not that it was undeserved violence) would have eclipsed what Mum and Dad would have unleashed!

Dragon Rage is a terrible thing to witness. And while perhaps back then we all had all kidded ourselves that when we said to ourselves that we would only “temporarily” adopt Reika into the family (releasing her into suitable hands of a guardian later on after my Quest business was done) I know now that Mina and Alan (on some level) had a more permanent idea in mind. Meaning that for all intents and purposes (though I am sure that consciously they hadn’t intended it) adopted Reika into their hearts as they had done me.

Meaning that in their Dragon rage, instinct would have gotten the better of them and they’d have torn the kidnappers into a bloody pulp. Or worse, into a mess that while bloody enough . . .probably would have been intact enough to scream for us to kill them to end the pain!

And if we should be foolish enough to stay here, near a dragon’s lair for too long where perhaps the scaley tyke’s parents still dwells (even IF later we shall find out his mental image of “Momma” and “Daddy” are hardly reptilian but disturbingly familiar) I fear what shall befall us! True, smart money (if heartless smart money) probably should have been to ditch junior over there and run for our lives, leaving the hatchling to whatever fate awaited unguarded hatchlings. He’s hardly exactly helpless because even now he has a limited (albeit useful) breath weapon of fire and claws. Good armoring of scales, even IF he’s on the small side here...

But . . .I don’t have the heart to break up junior and Rei-chan here. That and it would be . . .awkward at best if we tried.

Uh . . .we’ll figure something out later, I guess. Something after we get some distance from the unconscious dragon that Rei-chan stole from.

Thus the haste and desire for me to get us OUT of the general area and THEN sort out our remaining problems and issues. Such as what in the frell is wrong with Eve over there? I know that Akagi said that she’s not suffering from a concussion but the way she’d acted there a few times let me to believe that she’d taken some major blows to the head there!

And all that goes through my mind quickly as I am about to answer the little hatchlings question, but of all people Dr. Ritsuko Akagi jumps to the fore and answers. Answers and does it in a surprisingly comforting manner!

Akagi . . .hasn’t been known for having the best bedside manner, even IF she’s a VERY competent medical doctor (amongst other things). Maybe it’s her new elfin side kicking in here?

  1. “She’s not around right now little one,” Dr. Akagi says from the side softly, calming the distraught looking hatchling. “She’s . . .elsewhere right now and we’re here to babysit Rei-chan and you until we meet up again here soon.”
