On Leon, Zhora, and Problems in General…

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 45104

"LEON," I shout. "Stop this INSTANT! I need your help if we are able to save Zhora! FRELL!!"

No, I am not particularly happy with recent events, and having Leon besides himself isn‘t going to help at all. If the guy keeps that up, we‘ll not only not get Zhora back but we‘ll all not be able to get back to where we need to be, righ? As a Replicant he hasn’t had enough time to really get a real handle on his emerging emotions. Him being only a "C" rating in intelligence (on par with his human creators) furthmore he wasn’t as far in development as Roy Batty (or Zhora for the matter). Meaing if he lets his emotions get the best of him (again) at the wrong time during this upcoming battle…

. . .

I had hoped that we all could move and move quickly away from our insertion point and down to the beach. Do it with as little interaction between my group and the inhabitants of this particular island. I’ve got to be brief because us being under the gun, but I’ll explain all the same. Here is why we wanted to have so little interaction.

According to the briefing I and the other Champions had gotten on our pathway home, the Door we’d used dropped us down on a parallel Terra which has a history which mirrors events which had taken place over ten years ago (thirteen years) on Terra Prime to a frightening extent. Not saying that this world is DOOMED (Terra Prime herself had avoided a total nuclear destruction by a gnat’s whisker breath, a lot of realities next door hadn’t faired so well at all). This world’s timeline won’t take it into that "burn zone", Minestus of this reality is taking a different pathway to achieving his dark goals. One which wouldn’t eventually rope in not only a version of my (or my sister’s) Military but also a cannibalistic reptilian race known commonly as the Enemy. But whatever way this world’s fate goes, I and the others would be well adviced to leave as little of footprint in things as possible!

Not like I want to not help these Manimals. Creator knows I and the others would. The best thing for that we had HOPED for we cannot accomplish, now. That is, by leaving them to their own device! Leon has just killed their captor on this reality, and there might be Hell to pay for that.

See, here is the problem. Moreau is still a Wyrm and a dear friend of a Wyrm. If she’d been younger (pre-Wyrm stage) then we’d be clear and free with her death. We’re not that lucky. Dragon culture was (and still is) is a strange affair before the Alliance/Enemy war had made such a mess of things, but in this pre-contact like world the Council of Wyrms will see this as an unforgivable insult. The kind of insult which can only be fixed by our destruction if we wait too long! We have more time than what you’d think, being that those particular dragons who sit on the Council have a more . . ."traditional" and "pure" (for some reason with prolonged "inappropriate" social interaction between non-dragons and dragons causes them to become more . . .human in outlook and such). We have a week (an incredibly short time period for a "traditional" and "pure" dragon) before the hammer falls for the death of one wyrm. With the death of two in quick succession . . . We’ll get to that in a moment.

Now, that’s not too bad as far as time goes from that corner, but if we wait too long it’s going to be a MESS!

Then we have to worry about Minestus, a dragon who’s so close to Moreau as to almost be her brother . . .

He shall react much more quickly than the Council by far. Try to kill US or possibly take it OUT on this archive of Manimals. If we leave now (without Leon because he’ll not leave without Zhora) he might just kill this enclave out of spite if they fail to provide answers he likes. He might just kill them to wipe out a reminder of bad memory of Moreau’s death. He has other enclaves and can send other (as I believe this reality’s Lord Fred could be) as test subjects for his latest tweak towards his newest master race (a race that he had plans on appointing himself as their god).

Depending on whether or not he uses the slipgate system gives us minutes or days. But come he shall and to be honest I’d be foolish to not at least prepare LIKE he’ll be here any moment!

….

All we had to do was get ourselves down to the beach, open a Door and go into a new realm. Only had to do three more freakin’ Doors to get back to the rendezvous point after that…

But no, instead we had to run into Moreau and it had end the way it had ended. Mind you, I am rather glad it ended in a win on OUR side, but still . . .! Oh well, if we must have interaction it might have well happened with Moreau first . . . Save time because no matter how you’d sliced it (Moreau first or a Manimal first), it would have soon come down to a battle with the dragoness. Moreau runs a tight prison, she does…

This I quickly explain by a telepathic bolt (a magical gift, this telepathy, that is an elfin equivalent to certain forms of telecommunication I’d had whilst an AI) to Leon. That goes a way at calming him down (though he’s still not exactly calm, all considered). We’ll have to hope for the best for her, but it’s too early yet to try to make any kid of rescue plans . . .

Then I’m having to do the same with the Pack…. To the current Pack Leader, Carradene.

"I cry your pardon," I begin, breaking the ice and drawing attention to me instead of him staring at the corpse of the dragoness. "Pack Leader, who in your Pack has experience or ability to fight a dragon? Fear that a fight is coming our way and . . .

  1. "I at least have a means to put those who shouldn’t fight out of harms way," I continue on, sighing a little bit.
