A Repeat of History? Welcome back to Game 3?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 39354

"With the exception of Uhura--who happens to be with foal--I'm forced to say no," I answer. "You see the problem here is...."

Quickly and with broad strokes, the dragon mage explains to the rest of us (those he had not been consulting with via telepathy whilst he was examining the centaurs) the general problems we're faced with here and now.

Problems that for the moment seemed to have eclipsed my Quest! Now, I can well nigh understand the reasons for that, but still....

Well, I'd bet good money that these two young women with the rather still strong smell of horse on them (which packs more of a punch than just a pungent nasal assault, as we've seen) ARE at least part of the Key Components we've been sent here to retrieve. Would just love to do a quick check with the ol' Key Detecto wand, but right now though Belinda and Hannah are jittery enough as it stands! We don't need to send Belinda into a fit and have her throwing lightning bolts in fright due to a mistake. The mistake being that I'd be stupid enough to casually point a magical wand at a mage and think that she wouldn't mistake it for one of the lethal varieties out there on the market! Besides, pointing isn't polite, right?

No, later here in a bit I'll get permission to point the wand at them, after I explain. But I could tap Frieda for one burning question I have. She been rather quiet over this whole business, looking at the centaurs (Uhura in particular) and occasionally over at Hanna. If the doppleganger effect is in play, it'll at least point towards what I'm hoping for....

Oh, later. I'm only telling you this, aside, to let you know that we haven't lost track of why we are here!

Now, back to the current crisis. Which can basically be summed up by what Chiana says....

Chiana

"So basically Kirk's stuck thinking with his mivonks until he stops smelling the females in season," I chuckle softly, "Then again, from what I'd heard about Kirk that's not much of a change, really. Just great! So even though Uhura little . . . episode . . . . is over due to her being pregnant, we still have to worry about Kirk because of this other tralk Redshirt who's a centaur in heat. Kirk won't snap out of it until he sates himself on her?"

Point being that if we let Kirk do that he'd be stuck in his form, sealed in by the Flu/magical curse forever AND left in a situation kinda like what so many Freds and Astra faced while stuck as demifoxes. Yeah, while I have nothing against a bit of good sex (you DO remember how I am, right, before I met Sigin?), but I can see why the others don't want to leave this female Redshirt and Kirk in that kind of lurch.

Have nothing against infants, but wouldn't want one (at least not yet). Don't see Kirk and this nameless Redshirt getting an unwelcome visitor this way, really.

One of the sadder things out there in the universe I've seen is an unwanted baby, really....

And I somehow get a gut feeling that an abortion is a viable option. If I remember correctly about lycanthropy (which this Flu is sorta like), damage gets healed really quick like...

.....

Well...

"What with the hormones, yes." Sigin answers me softly, rolling his eyes in exasperation over this problem. "And he and the other centaurs are infectious to all non-infected even years afterwards. In Game 3, an entire world's population got changed because of the Centaur Flu!"

Frell.

"Shit," Belinda mutters, looking worried.

"But if we have to do with it?" Hannah Fredrics whines, looking forlorn. "If we have this Flu then why aren't WE centaurs?"

The male elf steps up as if to show something, looking thankful for an opening, only to be interrupted.

We suddenly find ourselves elsewhere. In the middling of a blotching white room which seems to stretch off into infinity in all directions! The centaurs stir and settle, seeming stunned and subdued by the change (whatever it means).

"I was getting tired of this story anyway," a man says behind us. "Star Trek's old hat and you DID get me interested in Farscape, you know!"

"Yeah, but did you have to wipe the entire Storythread?" a young woman asks, sounding cross. "I mean it was going slowly there, but still!"

We turn and see . . . . what appears to be Sebacians or humans (they're dressed in Earth clothing), but the glowing eyes kinda tell me that they're not normal! The male I will find out is named Crossroads Man, but at first I figure that the female Author is yet another Betty analog!

  1. But her actual name is "ragan"....
