On Me . . .

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 35231

A'eitia

"What do we do?" I ask, wincing as that rather insipid question leaves my lips.

"We follow it!" responds Inquirer. "Come on!"

Hm, seems that Inquirer is a woman after my own heart!

. . ..

Nothing like my biological parents who I've disowned with this wish I had the Rule granted me. See . . ..

Well, 'tis strange that I'm giving an introduction of myself, here and now. However, to be blunt, there rarely IS a good and perfect time for anything. "Perfect" doesn't exist on the mortal planes, as a general rule . . .. My biological parents, damn them, spent their entire lives devoted in their half baked religious beliefs trying to obtain perfection. See, I am the only "special" . . ..

Ah, let's just stop that and get down to business.

My name now A'eitia were as before I went by the name that translates into "Dewshine" in your language. I used to live in a reality that mirrored an indepent black and white American comic book series called "Elfquest". To be frank, I (like my fellow "specials") was reincarnated as a Terra Prime elf when that reality came do a crashing end. All had to do with some plot by a rogue Demon with plans for Godhood, but that's not really important, here and now.

With the incident, only through a freak series of events were the Rules and Agents able to rescue my kind before we breathed our last (though how exactly they managed it is beyond me). Let's just say that we did survive and they did rescue us out of some kind of sense of . . . mercy, I guess.

Sigh, yeah. It was mercy. Nothing but that. The could have just let us expire in that timeless void and finished off their business with collecting our spirits (like all those other Celestrials had to do with that emergency). However, they did what they did out of a sense of mercy (and something more of which I'm not privy to at this time). That's Dark Tower business and after meeting a Celestrial in the metaphysical flesh (while that Rule was friendly enough), I shan't bother them over such business. Maybe later, but not right . . ..now.

Well, back to it.

That incident which destroyed my original reality travelled both forward and back in time, whiping out all of my reality's history. Has to do with the fact that the incident involved not only having two objects existing in the same place at the same time (due to them materializing there), but also the damn fact that the objects (the Palaces) were the same object (just dislocated from each other in a time travel kind of sense). That incident, for my kind, temporarily shattered the entirety of my reality's time stream, causing them (for only a short while) to act like small pocket universes.

Meaning?

Well, the answer to that simple question is rather complex. The Doctor gave some long, fish poking answer to that back in School that I still cannot follow. However, for me and the oldest "Specials" it means that basically our past history . . .took on lives of their own. Try imagining it this way. A person's life, from begining to end through it's journey through time could be seen as a line. With the incident, that line got fractured and each fragment became an entity unto itself, unaware of the change. Meaning that when my younger selves began to live their lives in a different fashion that what I remember. It boggles my mind, when I think about the implications, but basically something similar to a certain "many worlds" theory happened within those shattered time stream fragments and my younger selves became . . ..other people than me. Same for my contemporary "specials".

. . ..

I am the oldest "sister" of all of the "Dewshine" clan, as it were. I was there when I saw that damn Rayek (the so called "master" of the Palace, the holy of holies within my old elfin world) betray us all and attempt the impossible for some vain glorius dream he had. Some madness within him that that one rogue Demon (Randall Flagg I'm told, of the "The Stand") stoked . . ..

. . ...

I was there, bearing shocked witness at the destruction of my world. I, the oldest (and most changed) of my sisters saw that! What I saw, that betrayal, left a kernel (if you will) within me that played a part in my upbringing (in my second childhood). I was born to a middle class parents who were decidely out of step with the times. A true minority (and a lunitic fringe to boot). See, not only did my parent believe in a religon who's gods and goddesses were viewed as dead and dust (who's temples had only been in business for all this time since the time of Atlantis due to something like social inertia and keeping up appearances for social standing), but they had to believe in some of the most strict (and least popular) set of elfin deities! So bound were they within their beliefs that even when (like so many other elfin parents who'd participated in that last "Night of Joining") that they'd gotten multiple children "in the oven", that they didn't even attempt to seek medical attention (old fashion elfin magic or the new fangled "science" that Inquirer's folks had brought from the stars). So, when it came time and I and my biological kin were to come into the world . . .. I was the only survivor. The others died and my mother . . ..my biological mother . . ..nearly did as well. But she looks back and says it was . . ..

Will of the gods . . .

She and my biological father did so try to force their ways down my throat. Tried to . . .

Have to admire Betty and Ragan in their views and advice. Saying that as far as religon goes, you have to make your own choice. Mind you, I made a different choice than they did, but it was MY choice in the end. Up to that point (much to my biological parent's distress) I'd refused to commit, despite all they'd thrown at me. Had, early in my childhood, secretly gotten a hold of a story (one story character in particular). Elfquest . . ..

God does have a sense of irony, eh? Yes, so in a sense I was looking back on my past life (though until my eigth birthday I wasn't aware of that). At first I came across the comic book character, a Wolfrider elfin woman who was me and she'd caught my admiration. But when, later in the series, I came across where an elfin tribe called the "Go-backs" came into the scene. Or rather, the fiery chieftess of the Go-backs, Kahvi. Admired her and saw something within her that I could identify with, somehow. So much so that I became a big fan of hers. Even emulated her . . .

So much so it became second nature . . ..then finally first nature . . . So much so that when the "real" Kahvi (all eight of them) got back their memories of their former lives, they all commented on how . . ..startling and uncanny it was . . .

. . ..

They all actually were rather flattered by me having chosen to emulate them, really. More so than you would think, considering that the first time around I and the other Wolfriders had rather strained relations with her . . ..

. . .

Whatever . . ..

So, rebellious I remained. In rebellion against my biological parents (as well as actually having come to share true belief), I'd chosen my true love's religon as my own. That alienated me from my parents to no ends, let me tell you (and leave it at that). With me having the Rule reweave my body into a Terra Prime elfin woman who was the splitting image (albeit an image with five fingers per hand instead of the Elfquest elf's four per hand) of my icon . . ..

Well, it was a final breaking with my past . . ..

Just as well, breaking with the past. Kahvi kind of suits me, now.

She was a woman of action (amongst other things) and not one to hesitate when the situation called for action.

If we do not finish this monstrosity off NOW, it shall come back to haunt us when we least expect it. THAT is the way of the undead. If nothing else I have learned during my time as a Terra Prime elf, is that the undead can be the most . . . vicious of folk when angered . . ..

A warm feeling bubbles up and I actually shout in joy as I pull my spear (magic based, and thus useful for this upcoming battle) . . .

Chiana

"What the frell do you think you're doing?" I ask, seeing the elfin woman actually drawing a melee weapon.

I mean from what I've learned of these elves (all three, including Ti'mma), they are acomplished mages and can fire off . . ..off fireballs and lightning bolts. Fire and such seems to not agree too well with that bandaged freak of nature Inquirer and the Doctor scared into reatreat AND it's still in range for spells, I think. Was going to give the "mummy" a few parting bolts from my weapon myself (plasma based weapon), but A'eitia has this farbot gleam in her eyes that . . ..is scary in a way. She's hungry for this battle . . ..

Am about to put my objections into words when that wand/dector thing that's on A'eitia's mate's hip begins to start to click and clack like mad .. . . . as some rather singed looking elves step out from the shadows, both with rather confused (and dazed)! They look like dren . . .

That and whatever they had sure was powerful, if I'm any judge. And considering samples from various places I've visited in the Uncharted Territories, that's saying a LOT!

They look exactly like those strangers we'd just left behind, Artizza 2 and Fertal 2!

Maybe this has something to do with what the Doctor got, mind to mind, with somebody?

The female red haired elf (with those inky black eyes) points at either Betty or Ragan (it's too vague the gesture to be sure).

"You're the one who sang that song?" the Artizza look alike asks.

The Fertal look alike, seeing that the addressees don't have a frelling clue at what they're talking about (as well as I have not a clue) starts to sing the song in question.

Later, I'll find out that it's actually supposed to be "American pie" instead of "Allarian pie". Catchy song, even if some of the lyrics were . . ..strange . . ..

Betty and Ragan look at each other, but finally snap out of it a bit when "two and two" are put together with that clicking sound . . ..

  1. A'eitia might be farbot, but she's quick on the uptake . . . She figures it out just as quickly as me and the others . . ..
