At this point, the Doctor himself steps forward... "I am called the Doctor," he begins, "I was the UNIT scientific advisor for Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. Retired from that position, of course, somewhat. Went out to see the world....and then some." He smiles a small, somewhat mysterious smile at that. Knowing what I know of the Professor, I have a pretty good idea what "and then some" means. Then I look over at the Brigadier (the retired chap, not Bambera). Well, a rather long handle of a name the Brigadier has, I think to myself, smiling a little at that thought as I look at the man in question. Seems a bit stuffy, but a good sort for the most part. I will reserve judgment on Brigadier Bambera for now. The Doctor continues on with his introduction. I nod slightly towards Bambera as I am introduced and then watch the slight reaction.....the slight stir.....that I see within her face twitch a little when Inquirer is introduced as his wife. Yes, I guess she and the others were right when that particular reaction was going to be common with most when the "marriage thing" came up. After all, despite it being "okay" for them to be married.....it would appear "wrong" to others. See, Inquirer's apparent age and the Doctor's apparent age are a bit.....different. Now, whilst I understand such a problem is pretty moot because of Inquirer and the Doctor being different species of beings (albeit human appearing), the world at large (at least the Earth at large) wouldn't know that, eh? "Nothing for it," I hear Elrondir myself, "And fie to those who dare to make issue of it for my sister and her husband." Yep, that's Elrondir alright. He and the other elves are bristling a little bit at Bambera's reaction. I can see this even through their human seeming. That or perhaps that seeming seems to be reflecting their true form's facial gestures. Whatever. Sigin, meanwhile, is making a slight calming gesture with his hand towards them and, for the life of me, I swear they seem to nod as if in response to something he had said. But that fellow had not even opened his mouth to speak. Could there be something like telepathy in play here? Or perhaps something more mundane like a "silent language" similar to sign language? An interesting byplay if nothing else. Something that I fear that only I and the intended recipients notice. Something to add to a list of unanswered questions for these folks, I fear. Do hope I get to actually get some answers before they flitter off again. Meanwhile Brigadier has a look of pleasant surprise as he walks over to Inquirer...
