"The name....well....just call me Zane," the odd man sighs, "And
my companion here is called Mortis.....usually in the form of a pale horse....but....."
What exactly happens next is a blur for Betty, and a blurry....patchy
memory for that other woman (Betty never did learn her name).
Betty remembers that Zane tells him her that she'd been being drawn
to a portal to another world where some elven version of Fred and Astra
were helping that one strange woman with some Robot problem (?) Zane gently
pointed the woman back the way she came through a strange, invisible portal
(where Daneel and Roxanne find her passed out, not remembering much at
all except for that mustache/laughing cantrip she'd placed on the "Mistress").
It's slightly left of where the ghostly Betty was floating.
The "Mistress" gets returned from whence she came. Upon awakening and
finding out what had been done to her nearly drives her over the edge.
She vows, between insane laughs, bloody revenge by going back and killing
that @#$^& when she was born.....only to find out the rather....er.....messy
results of what interfering with the past can have when it's protected
by some powerful Entities....
Next thing she now is that she's suddenly sitting up, whole and healed,
partly stuffed in a body bag (causing the ambulance technician to jump
back in surprise). Nearby, she sees, for a brief second, two grey cloaked
figures nose to nose, arguing fiercely.
Then, looking up at the shocked Mrs. Crabitzes: "That's astronomy, you cretin!" she shouts.
So.....
