At this point, Betty...
....had been feeling a distinct tug on her ethereal being, from the
general direction of what could laughingly be called "downtown" in Socorro
(such as it is, being the rather small town it is). After all, according
to her fellow ghost had said her fate was to follow around her unwelcomed
guests! Then, however, she feels more insistent tugs suddenly coming back
the way she had come....and sighs as she begins to float back the way she's
come.
"Lovely," Betty mutters morosely, "Who and what will it be now?"
Klingons? Romulans? Cybermen?!
Then she sees it....
She has to wonder just where this young blonde woman is doing dressed
in black like one of her favorite villain from that one British classic
scifi show, Doctor Who. She must say that that mock Tissue Compression
Eliminator was really good looking......
....
Then it hits her as she's floating past the scene where this
black clad woman who's taking aim at what appears to be a woman dressed
up as a forester.
For a brief second, she has to wonder why: 1) this woman looks like
Sigourney Weaver, 2) why this woman is so far away from the local Society
for Creative Anachronism, 3) why she seems surprised to be in a trailer
park, 4) and why is she muttering about wondering where Roxanne and Daneel
(!) have gotten off to now.
"Look out!" Ragan screams, waking up to the reality of what the danger
this woman dressed as a forester is facing!
Of course, being a ghost means quiet a few things. One being that there
are few human beings nowadays really actually believe in ghosts
enough for her to interact with them. Another is that since the woman being
shot isn't (despite appearances) human, there is no way in Hell
that she had heard that warning, in the condition she was in now.....
But instead of dying and shrinking down to doll size, the target instead
yelps and whirls, glaring with red glowing eyes (and a suddenly tipsy sneer
on her face).
Betty stops her drifting for a moment, morbid curiosity on her ghostly
face.
As of that moment, though, the Weaver look alike seems to notice her
for a second, before her attention snapping back towards the one who attacked
her so unexpectedly!
What was with that crazily glittering gem on her forehead?
"Hic.....Well now," the still living woman sneers at the suddenly sweating
blonde, "If it isn't the Mistress!....hic."
"Don't call me that you bi...!" the blonde woman calls backing away,
only to seem to faint dead away as the other woman says something arcane
sounding and waves her hand!
This'll cure her of that idiotic laugh of hers, the archaically
dressed woman thinks drunkenly, And I'm doing her a favor! Now
she'll at least have a Beard of Evil for a few days to remember the good
old times!!
The "Mistress" never was very popular with this one odd woman here.....
"Magic?!" Betty whispers, startled despite herself. "What are you, another
fictional fugitive from that one online game, NEQ?!"
Somehow, she hadn't expected this. Any of it!
"We've already gone over this...." the Weaver look alike mutters as she smiles down at the fallen blonde, who's beginning to grown a black handlebar mustache of all things....and softly given off what some would call a maniacal sounding laugh every few seconds, "Give me enough sample reality, and you're bound to run into universes which match fiction! Thought you learned that after meeting the Doctor, for Creator's sake! Hic! "And as for computer simulations....we're all computer simulations according
the Church of Silicon Valley!" the woman natters on as the unconscious
blond begins to loudly laugh, still unconscious and seeming to unconsciously
being compelled to twirl that odd mustache, "Well, some who believe in
the HTML heresy say that......"
The woman suddenly snaps her head back, looking unsteadily at Betty.
"Wait!" she gasps, blinking, "When did you up and die?!"
She hiccups again a few more times, staring at the ghost (who stares
back at her).
"Just a few moments ago," Betty mutters, "By a Yugo!"
"By a colossal screwup!" a deathly sounding voice says behind them, "What a amaturish mistake that other guy made!" The two turn and see an annoyed man in a robe muttering something
vile.
His face seems normal and human enough, but there is a skeleton mask
on the hood of a grey sports car, and a scythe in one hand (which is skeletal).
