"Though....I must say I fear I am under some type of curse," Astra
finally finishes up, looking down at herself.....
"You are indeed," the previously hooded elven woman says softly and
sadly, agreeing, and then barks out a harsh, alien sound word......and
Astra looks up in a look of betrayal.....and then falls to the ground,
snoring like a rather untuned chainsaw.
Best we put you out for this, Morganna (the formerly hooded elfin
woman) sighs, beginning the magical examination, Being awake interferes
with some of the more delicate spells here.....
Wonder if she sounds like that due in part to her transformation,
Rugen thinks idly to himself, looking at the woman. She only has a few
tufts of red hair left on her head now, but ironically much of the rest
of her body is now covered by a fine fur which is continuing to grow even
as he watches, minute changes only visible to his elven eyes...... The
elf idly notes that the color of the fur clashes with the clothing that
she's still wearing.
Oh, and isn't that a relevant observation for the problem
here and now! Rugen thinks to himself in disgust. Well, time to
let my wife to her magic.....to tell if this woman is savable or not.....
For a brief moment, Rugen's young seeming face showed all the years
he'd lived.... Not in wrinkles or other physical marks...... Rather something
less concrete than that....more like a look in his eyes. The look spoke
of a person who'd lived thousands of years and seen some rather strange
things. They were the eyes of a person who'd voluntarily followed his wife
into the realm of the "new style" of Champion of Rules and Agents. In that
case, he was the second oldest Champion of that type....with Morganna Wordeni,
his wife....being the oldest (being the first of the "old style" Champions
(Elric being a prime example of the old) to be convert over to the newer
style. And in those thousands of years (over ten thousand by his count),
this.....curse....brought back a shiver of recognition. Rugen prayed that
it wasn't what he thought it was....
The other elves looked at each other, not sure just what about this
fur covered woman had set them on edge like that. There were the home-grown
versions of unseelie creatures on Rifts Earth, but this had a different.....taste
than anything that they'd felt before. These "good" elves feel a natural
antipathy for a "Terran" unseelie (or those becoming "Terran" unseelie)
being even if they'd never encountered one before.
Oh, but the feel it now...and probably feel much more in their futures,
as long as they'd be. Long it would be, for all of the elves of Morganna's
blood....her children actually..... would encounter much in the coming
years as Champions.....what with them all having accepting the offer as
many other children of Champions had or would in the future.... This, by
the way, made Rifts Earth the largest population of Champions at around
approximately 100,000! That many and their story on Rifts Earth.....well,
that's a long story in and of itself. The general history of Rifts Earth
is episodes 7829, 7830, 7837, 7838, and 7839. Morganna's story is in episode
7840. Thus you'll see that the odd lives that Champions lead and theodd
places end up isn't just for those of Terra Prime!!

"All
this and we were just waiting around to help Queen Astra and the Gunslinger
get to their next destination safe and sound," Morganna sighs as she finishes
up her magical examination.
