"Fred, what a pleasant surprise," Vincent says. "And Astra too.
I'm afraid I don't know any of your friends. Perhaps you'll introduce me
to them?" "I'm not actually the Astra that you think I am, if that doesn't
sound too strange," Astra 9 says.
Lengthy explanations ensue.
Afterwards, Doctor Vincent looks.....troubled. On one hand this business
about "analogs" and "parallel worlds" was quiet exciting! Astra, if she
was speaking the truth, was proof positive that a recent theory he'd been
developing on alternate "streams of time"! Yet he got the distinct impression
that she, as well as her husband, Jarlath, had more on their minds than
allowing an old man the pleasure of proving a theory! But when the story
continued on to the main reason as to why the visit.....
Doctor Vincent looks a bit pale when he realizes that Fred and his friends
believe
that by him taking portions of the deceased wyrms that he'd caused quiet
a problem.
The question that a dragon could have a spirit never really crossed
his mind. The question that disturbing the body as he'd done could have
lent to the troubles of ghosts......
But then again, the portions that he'd taken from the male dragon had....given
off the oddest vibrations a few days ago (shortly before the beginning
of the terrible trouble that Fred tells about a maker of a green flame).
The coincidence between the vibrations and the flame.....
But the final thing that clinched it was that as Astra-Astra 9
as she liked to be called sometimes-introduced the "dragon mages" that.....they
morphed into their true forms briefly!!
His tower had been endued with wards against illusions (prevented unwelcome
guests from foiling his security)..... so.....
So to refuse veritable flock of LARGE dragons would be rather..... foolish.
Especially with them right in front of him....

"Come in,"
the elderly man says softly, "The....samples are in my laboratory."
