Time for Bed, Bed for Time...

The Black Void - Episode 994

Jaques moved slowly around the room but found that the message on the ceiling was equally indistiguishable from any angle. Maybe if he got into the bed? The message was right above it and could plausibly have been written by someone lying on it.

After pondering his options, he kicked off his shoes, crawled into the bed and rolled over on his back. The bedclothes were much softer than they looked, and he got an eerie sinking sensation. He also started feeling very, very sleepy, drifting off...

He woke with a start, shook off the sleepy feeling and concentrated on the message. Oh yes, he could see it clearly now. It said, quite simply:

DO NOT GET INTO THE BED

Yeah right, he thought. What was the point with a warning he could only read by disobeying it? Well, better get out of bed then...

  1. But he could not get up, and the sleepy feeling overwhelmed him. He had a strange dream...
  2. As above, but he didn't dream. However, when he woke up...
  3. He started feeling... different somehow.
  4. His reviere was broken by a sharp tap at the window.
  5. He heard a noise from the wardrobe. There was someone in there! (Which of course means they must have walked into the walk-in wardrobe. Okay, where was I?)
  6. Suddenly the lights went out.
