Sarah's New Look

"All right. Food sounds good... Is that a mirror I see on the wall over there? Before we go for dinner, I'd like to check that my hair isn't in too much of a mess after the day I've had."

Sarah walks over to the mirror, and then gasps in astonishment at her reflection. She has always been quite a pretty girl, but now - though still recognisably herself - she looks positively beautiful, this being even more surprising given the difficult day that she has had. Her skin seems to be blooming with health, and remarkably there is now no sign of the scar from the nasty bite that that horrid child gave her only a week or so ago. Her hair has a new glossiness to it. Most remarkable of all, through that hair protrudes a pair of pointed ears. Now she knew why everyone thinks that she must be an elf. Hell, perhaps she really is an elf now.

"Are you all right?" Roger asks, having heard her gasp.

"Er, yes I'm fine," she manages.

"Let's go downstairs then, find a table and order dinner."

Once they are seated and have called over a waiter, Roger orders roast beef. Sarah happens to be a vegetarian, something that the inn isn't accustomed to dealing with, but after some discussion with the waiter she manages to order something that she hopes will be reasonably tasty. "I'd heard that elves don't eat meat," Roger remarks.

While they wait for their food to arrive, they sip their drinks (ale for Roger and white wine for Sarah), and exchange stories.

1. Sarah goes first. She tells the truth, though she doesn't expect Roger to believe her.
2. Sarah goes first. She makes something up, keeping it very brief.
3. Roger goes first.
