"Not if you want us to have enough money left over to buy you some clothes in the morning. But I'll make sure that we're given a chamber with two beds." He must notice the look on her face, because he says “No worries, dear. Our relationship is purely professional. Besides, my heart belongs to another.”
This puts her mind at ease. “Alright. Do you have somewhere in mind?” “I know just the place.” He leads out of the plaza through dark streets past closed shops and quiet homes. It doesn’t take long for the barren streets to give way to a wide vibrant street filled with inns, taverns, bars, and even theaters. Again, the class system is obvious, with the clients of these places generally being well-dressed and clean and those of tattered, little, or no clothes working as servers, ladies of the night, beggars, and other jobs without much prestige. Finally, they arrive at a modest-sized Inn away from the largest of the crowds. She doesn’t think it’s much to look at, but when they get inside, they are greeted with a large living area with an enormous fire place that heats up the whole room. Sarah can’t help but notice a stage in the living area. It would certainly be nicer to perform in a place like this than on the streets. A centaur in a fine shirt runs the front desk. Roger exchanges some words and silver coins and the barmaid in a dirty dress leads them to their room. Like the Inn itself, it’s modest but comfortable, with each bed having its own nightstand and dresser. When the barmaid leaves and they are alone, she sits down on the edge of her bed and says, “Since we’re going to be partners, I think we should get to know each other. What’s your story?” She doesn’t say, but she is especially curious about who has this man’s heart.
