A Missing Knight

The Black Void - Episode 6822

The hut is completely empty, with nothing in it. Time was when I'd have broken down and cried about it, but I've been hardened by my experiences. "So. Where is he?" I hiss, about to boil over with anger.

"He - he went out. To return to Laralia. And I let him go. What more need do I have of him. Son of a minor lord - pah!" Maris spits. But I don't believe him for one second; his hesitation's betrayed him. Don hasn't returned to Laralia, not if I know this cruel and sadistic man.

"Smells fishy," Teran grunts. "Get what I'm saying, lass?"

I do, and a horrible realisation dawns on me. Maris tricked me - Don was never here. But then where is he? Is he alive or dead?

"Alright, fine," Maris says, shrugging his soldiers. "I tricked you. I led you back here with the promise of your lover..." - the sneer in his voice as he says "lover" makes me want to strangle him right there - "to get you back. You're mine, my sweet. And it'll be your head on the end of my sword, unless you return to me."

Before I can say anything more, Teran steps forward, his hand on the hilt of his sword. "Seems to me," he growls, "that you've tricked Hari and abused her one too many times. And I've had enough of it."

Teran draws his sword, and Maris produces a wickedly sharp curved blade from within his clothing. The two of them strike at each other, and begin to fight.

  1. I run away. I don't want to be around for this fight - if Teran loses, I'll probably die.
  2. Teran wins the fight.
  3. Maris wins the fight.
  4. I try to help Teran in the fight, even though I have no weapons.
