Experimental Subject

The Black Void - Episode 6191

I stare blankly at the man in the white lab coat, frozen. All my instincts scream "flee", but given the loudspeaker announcement, that's probably the surest way to arouse this man's suspicion and bring the guards down on my head. Buy I may give myself away soon anyway, since I doubt I can keep this ruse up in light of his request. Enslaving women to be used for experiments? Just who are these monstrous people? I've got to get out of here and find some way to contact the authorities.

"Ahem" The scientist (assuming that's what he is) says impatiently. He sports an unruly mop of graying hair and large rimmed glasses. "Did you not hear me, girl? Are you deaf?" I shake my head. "Then do as I've asked and take a seat here." He indicates an exam table like you'd find in any doctor's office. There's also a scale, a medicine cabinet and other doctor's tools in here, along with lab equipment and a bunch of strange machines I can't identify.

"Er...I think I'm in the wrong room, actually." I stammer. "There's another slave who they're bringing for your experiment, sir." This is doubtless the truth, since he was obviously expecting someone, and I certainly wasn't scheduled.

"Bah, nonsense! You're a slave, so you'll do fine. Management has reschecduled my last three appointments already, at the last minute too. Says there aren't enough test subjects to go around! Ha! They find all manner of tasks for you slaves to perform, not to mention the personal slaves for the Directorate members, but they can't spare one for the sake of advancing my vital work! Ridiculous, that's what it is. But not this time. I don't know who your supervisor is, or why you were sent to this section, and frankly I don't care. I'll not be delayed again. Not now, when I'm so close to a breakthrough!" With that, he presses a button on the wall, and I hear an audible click as the door locks behind me.

"But my supervisor! If I don't report back to him, I'll be in trouble." I say, hoping to convince him, but he remains unmoved.

"Whoever he is, I outrank him anyway. besides, he's probably busy with the recent intake. Sounds like they had some problems this time. You won't be missed anytime soon."

My eyes dart around the room looking for any other avenues of escape. There appear to be none. I do glean two important pieces of information, though. This room, as far as i can tell, has no cameras. Further, the man appears to be unarmed. I'm under no illusions that I can just attack him outright, though. I'm no fighter, and he probably has six inches and 100 pounds on me, easily. If I could catch him unawares, though, I might have a chance.

He breaks my thoughts by asking again, exasperated, why I'm still dressed. I remove my clothes, which takes only a moment given what I'm wearing. I slowly walk over to the table and take a seat, glancing about for anything I could use as a weapon. On a side table I notice he has prepared a series of injections, which must be a part of this experiment. If he were to look away...

Attempting to distract him, or at least buy some more time, I ask "Can you tell me a little about this experiment?"

  1. "You're actually interested in my research? How unusual. But very well, I will tell you."
  2. "It's nothing a slave should concern herself with." Before I have a chance to respond, he quickly swabs my arm and injects me with a syringe I didn't notice him carrying. I begin to feel groggy almost immediately.
  3. There is a knock on the door. "This must be the actual test subject. On time, for once. Oh well, I suppose it woudn't hurt to test the both of you." he says, and presses the button to unlock the door.
  4. He doesn't answer, but turns away to retrieve something from the cabinet. As soon as his back is turned, I grab the largest syringe off the table and jab him in the neck with it.
