Tired as you are, your pace quickens notably at the sight of clean, fresh
water. Reaching the shore you pause briefly to look around and listen.
There does not appear to be anyone else within sight or earshot, so
without a second thought to pretty much anything else, you wriggle out of
your muddy clothes, letting them fall where they may, run down to the water
and dive in.
-
You should have checked the temperature. The water is so icy cold you can't hold back a scream.
-
It's chilly, but tolerable. You surface and commence scrubbing as well as you can with your bare hands.
-
As you surface and shake the muddy water out of your ears, you hear a loud splash somewhere to your left, shortly followed by a similar one to the right. Uh oh.
-
Still under water, you open your eyes and see a strange light shining below you.
-
Something is wrong. You expected to hit the surface and start sinking, but you just keep falling.
-
The water has an unexpected taste to it.
