Out Into the Warm Night

Cool hat's hat may be very cool, but inside he is just a jerk like so many others Belle has known, including parents, relatives, and teachers. Belle makes her break for the stairs just in time to hear several bullets ricochet behind her. Belle just keeps running. She tries not to think she could get shot in the back and paralyzed forever.

At the top of the stairs is an archway that leads into a hall with more stairs. Well bullets can't penetrate stone walls and cool hat will have to leave his post which apparently he does not do. Belle keeps running. The second flight of stairs leads to yet another archway that leads out into a garden where the grass is green and it is spring time.

Wait a minute, thinks Belle. This is February. Where am I anyway? Belle glances around the garden. The grass is green. The bushes are in leaf. The air is warm and behind some of the flowers and bushes and trees, Belle can see not only the black outline of the building from which she emerged but two even larger buildings. "I'm either on the grounds of a mansion or else another boarding school," Belle thinks. Belle can....

1. Belle can look to see if any one is home at the mansion.
2. Belle can look to see if there is a phone inside the mansion.
3. Belle can try and get off the mansion grounds and on to a main road.
