I rest the night, sleeping under the stars. Fortunately the weather isn't
too cool yet, but that may change the higher I go. It's already a bit
windy, but
nothing I can't handle. My sturdy traveling clothes offer a layer of
protection from the elements that had been rather lacking in some of my
previous journeys. In the morning, I eat a small breakfast of bread
and cheese from my
provisions, then set out again.
The path gradually inclines more and more, slowing my progress and reminding me how out of shape I am. But, as the sun begins to set, I finally make it to the top, where I can see the valley stretching out below, and further past to the snow-capped peaks of the border mountains. I decide to take another rest before beginning the climb down. I make a small fire with some wood that I gathered further down the path. I eat again, this time some dried meat, and eventually fall asleep.
