Due South

The Black Void - Episode 3660

I decide on taking a carriage for the first leg of my trip, since I'm anxious to put some distance between myself and Theras, and in any case I can find a coach now, while there's no gurantee of that later. In fact, there are several in town at the moment, thier business having taken a downturn with the smallpox outbreak restricting travel.

I settle on a small coach driven by a grandfatherly-looking man. For the cost of about half of what I have left after my shopping expedition, he will take me due south nearly one hundred miles, to the mining town of Pella in southern Laralia. No coaches will go farther than that, he assures me. The roads to Doria go through the mountains and will have to be travelled on foot.

We are soon underway, and I watch the countryside slowly roll on by. I'm nervous, but excited about getting a fresh start. Who knows what awaits me next?

  1. The three day's travel pass without incident. The coachman tells me what he's heard about Doria (rumors, mostly) We camp at night to save money on inn costs.
  2. On the second night, we are far from any town, when the coachman falls gravely ill suddenly. I'm left to guide the coach, and worry he will die before we reach Pella.
  3. On the third day, we encounter a man on the roadside with an injured leg. He explains that he was thrown from his horse, which then ran off. He asks the coachman if he can have a ride to town.
