You gather up your savings from working on the farm, and head to the Armor
Shoppe. The shopkeeper there outfits you with the best equipment you can
afford, which turns out to be old leather armor, and a rusty sword.
This equipment is enough for you to fight your way through weaker foes, but you know that if you face Witch Maggie wearing it, you’re certainly doomed. Nevertheless, you head down the road towards her lair, hoping something better will turn up along the way. Before long, you come across a noble coming up the road from Prudesville. He is wearing fine plate armor, and carrying a stunning broadsword. By amazing coincidence, he appears to be exactly your size! With this equipment you could easily defeat Maggie! You look the noble over. By all indications, this guy is a total fop. His gear is too much for him, and he wouldn’t know what to do with it in a real fight. You could probably overcome him and take his gear by force.
