Aftermath

"My god! Teran, get in here quickly." He dosen't argue, stumbling as I guide him toward the bed. Moula, groggily awake by now, nearly freaks out over the injuries her lover has suffered. I send her off to get water and clean bandages from the innkeeper.

Since Teran stumbled in, the fact that John's not with him has been eating at me. Where's John? Why isn't he here too? If Teran's this bad off after the battle....

"Teran, what happened? Where's John?" I ask, steeling myself for the response.

1. "We managed to beat those mercenaries, but they got away. John fears they'll come after us again, so he decided to ride alone to his father's castle to get some help."
2. "We managed to beat those mercenaries, but we both took pretty bad injuries, as you can well see. John came off the worst for it. He's alive, but he couldn't travel. He sent me to make sure you and the babies get somewhere safe."
3. "We fought the best we could, but...we lost. They left me for dead. John's still alive, but he's been captured. Right now he's on his way back to Theras, as Gustav's prisoner."
4. "We fought the best we could, but...we lost. John fought bravely, but they were too much for us. Lass, I'm so sorry, but John fell in battle. He's dead."
