Avoiding A Fight

The Black Void - Episode 3331

I breathe a sigh of relief as the two drunks back down, grumbling. Apparently, despite being "rough and ready" rivermen, they still have some of their wits about them and recognized John and Teran as formidable foes. I'm glad that yet another barfight didn't break out in my behalf. Teran, laughing, recounts the tale of the barfight in Southern Laralia [2366]. I chime in with the story of the other barfight I was also involved in during my return to Artazia [2496]. "Seems trouble follows you about, lass." Teran chuckles. I nod, and we all share a good laugh.

The wine and ale continues to flow freely, (except for me of course - with a baby on the way I've had naught but water or an occasional juice or tea for months now). Teran is as loud and boisterous as ever, and everyone in the tavern seems to be enjoying themselves. Even the two men who earlier accosted us end up laughing along with Teran and John's war stories, going drink for drink with Teran until they were both passed out. Througout the evening, I notice Teran and Moula, after they get a few drinks in them, flirting with each other. Coyly at first, but rather obviously the later it gets (and the drunker they get). Sure enough, as the evening winds down, Teran and Moula go hand in hand, stumbling up the stairs to enter one of our two guest rooms.

John, who's only slightly less drunk than those two, looks at me and says "Well, I'm glad those two found each other, but they have messed up our sleeping arrangements. I hope you don't mind sharing a room with me, Hari?" He dosen't sound at all unhappy about the prospect.

"Of course not." I reply, forcing a smile. We head up to the other guest room.

  1. Somewhat to my surprise, John is a perfect gentleman, and we both fall asleep in short order.
  2. Not unexpectedly, John tries to make a move on me as soon as we're alone. I'm not really in the mood, but he's been so good to me lately, that I don't reject his advances.
  3. Not unexpectedly, John tries to make a move on me as soon as we're alone. I'm not really in the mood, and I brush him off. He gets hurt and angry over my rejection, and storms out of the room.
  4. As soon as we're alone, John professes his undying love for me and proposes marriage. While I want to believe in him, I'm not sure if it's him or the wine that's doing the talking right now.
