"So we'll need a carriage to get you away from here. Good point. We'll go and wake John, and fill him in on the situation. Then one of us will go and arrange a carriage - even at this late hour it shouldn't take more than half an hour - and leave it waiting outside. Then we'll get you out. How many bouncers do they have here?"

"At this hour, two. One on the outer door, who you'll have seen when you came in, and another waiting in a room nearby in case of trouble."

"John and I should be able to deal with them. Come on, let's go and wake John."

1. We get back to my room without incident and wake up John.
2. We emerge from the alcove, and almost bump into Madam Scarlet. "Didn't I see you enter the alcove only about two minutes ago?" she says. "Is anything wrong?"
3. We emerge from the alcove, and almost bump into both of the bouncers. Someone must have overheard us and alerted them.
