The young guard proves quite helpful, though he seems a little flustered at my state of (un)dress. I'm going to have to get a new robe or some better clothes quickly. Regardless, I find my way with little difficulty after getting the directions. I soon reach the main boulevard, and can see the entrance gate into the city proper. Just inside the gate is Zal's tavern.

As I approach, I wonder what kind of reception I will get. They probably don't know anything about my ordeal in the harem or afterwards. Zal had promised to try to find me after I was sold, but the auctioneer was set to intentionally mislead him.

However, with a bounty on my head, I worry if anyone has traced me back to here. Probably not, I reason, since Maris would have had to give them that information, and he was unaware of my even being alive until earlier today.

I enter the tavern...

  1. I am greeted warmly. Zal is eager to offer help, and I am barraged with questions.
  2. I receive a rather cool reception. "You shouldn't be here." Zal tells me. Has someone gotten to him first?
  3. Maris, having (correctly) anticipated my next move, is waiting for me inside. Zal is nowhere to be found.
