And this Yunis may not be at the inn till the evening, as he'll probably be working during the day. But I admit that it would go against the grain to kill Vosk - I mean Maris - in cold blood, which is the only alternative I can think of."

"Could we take him with us?"

"Far too risky. When we reached the tavern he could inform on us. He'd know that I couldn't harm him in front of witnesses."

"So it looks like I must go alone then. Would the money that Don's father gave us for expenses be enough to buy Don's freedom?"

2. "No, not even if I threw in my own payment."
3. Before he can answer, Maris - unaware that we have been delayed by our conversation and so are still outside his house - emerges. I think I can guess where he might be intending to go: the palace.
