The Empty House

The Black Void - Episode 203

Jacques feels bewildered. What the hell is going on? It looks like no one's ever even lived here! There's not a speck of dust anywhere! Most of the rooms are empty, though there are several kitchen appliances (including the coffee machine that Jacques got for Gerald and Rosie last Christmas) in the kitchen, and linens in one of the closets.

Jacques returns to the kitchen. His stomach is rumbling, and his watch tells him it is dinnertime, though both the clock blinking 11:15 AM above the oven and the bright, morning sun outside tell him otherwise. Whatever. All Jacques knows is that he hasn't had dinner yet, and he's hungry.

Fortunately, the refrigerator is stocked with sandwich making materials, and there are a few loaves of bread in the pantry. At first, Jacques is hesitant, but then he reasons that this is either the Maxwell's house, and he knows them well, so they won't mind, or no one lives here, so no one will miss anything he takes. He makes himself a ham sandwich.

While eating, Jacques puzzles over what's going on. Maybe Gerald and Rosie aren't here because they never have been here; they live safely on the other side of the Black Void? Maybe this is just an eerie reflection of reality where the victims of the Bermuda Triangle end up? Yeah, that sounds about right. Jacques can't think of any explanation for that swirling void that inhaled him, but that it was the Bermuda Triangle's means of claiming its victims. Maybe someone on Loire saw that void and called the police? Maybe, with this information, they might be able to figure out the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle, and rescue him? Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe. Sigh.

Jacques finishes his sandwich, washes his hands, and then steps outside. Perhaps if he sailed away from this island and back towards the Bahamas, he might find someone. Then again, maybe he won't have to do any sailing at all. There definitely has to be some reason for there being a new, seventh house. Jacques walks up to it and rings the doorbell.

  1. Someone answers the door
  2. Unfortunately, no one answers the door
