Argument

"You're calling me a liar?" said Elaine, defiantly.

"Fred won't believe any of your lies. He knows that I'm not evil."

"He's in love with you, isn't he?" responded Elaine. "You have a special talent for making men fall in love with you. Like Matthias."

Fred was a little perplexed at all this. "Who's Matthias?" he asked.

"My fianceé," said Elaine. "Or at least he was, until she got her claws on him. Of course, now she's forgotten all about him, and is showering her interest on you. I wonder how long it will be before someone else comes along," she said cattily.

"Why you..." said Adele. "I was never interested in Matthias! I didn't cast any spells on him!" She turned to Fred. "Sorry if I've been kind of tempramental, but that girl really gets my goat. She got jealous when her boyfriend started looking my way, and assumed that I had cast a spell on him."

"You betrayed us to the Dragon!" said Elaine.

"No I didn't!" said Adele. "The Dragon extracted the information he needed to construct the trap from my mind! If I had given it to him willingly, do you think that he would have imprisoned me in it?"

"Hold it, hold it," said Fred. "Elaine, you claimed that Adele betrayed 'us' to the Dragon. Does that mean that there are more of you imprisoned?"

"Yes," said Adele. "Matthias, who we already mentioned, and Sigin, a rogue Dragon mage who was turned into a tiger by Minestus--that's the Dragon of these caves. Also, there's a purple energy trap, which kept us all in stasis."

"Why didn't you mention them to me earlier?" said Fred.

"Because being in the trap had disoriented my memories," said Adele.

"See? You can't trust her!" said Elaine.

"You think I'm so untrustworthy, do you remember what color Matthias's hair is?" said Adele.

"Uh...no," said Elaine. She looked visibly deflated.

"So what now?" said Fred.

"We should free all the people individually, and then destroy the trap," said Elaine. "If we destroy the trap first, there's a chance that it would kill the others."

"No," said Adele, "I think we should destroy the trap first. It's risky, but remember that Elaine's gem turned into a more powerful dragon than mine, and Sigin's would be the most powerful of all. It's possible that nothing could free Sigin. We should destroy the trap first."

"No," said Elaine. "Remember, you would also have my own magical powers to help you defeat the other dragons."

Fred was visibly startled at this. "Your own--" he said. "You mean you're a sorceress, too?!"

"Yes," said Elaine, "I am. In fact, I'm more powerful than she is, although I don't boast about it."

Oh, no, thought Fred. I should have taken the corridor with the items.

1. They go to the green room to free Matthias.
2. They go to the orange room to free Sigin.
3. They go to the purple room to destroy the trap.
4. Suddenly...
