he once was a man,
though precisely what he is now is less certain - who struck a deal with
the forces of darkness.
They wanted the Pyramid of Balance and he said he could get it for them.
In exchange,
they gave him great power and near immortality. At least, we thought it
was only near
immortality, but if he is still alive after he was seen to fall into the
crater
of an active volcano then perhaps it was absolute immortality that
they gave him."
"But if he has such great power, then how can I prevent...?" At that point Carola broke off, and rubbed her stomach. "Suddenly I feel very full, as if I'd eaten half a sheep," she said. "That will be the Pyramid returning to its normal size. The feeling of fullness should gradually wear off as your stomach gets used to the Pyramid's presence, though you may find that you will have to eat smaller meals than before, and to compensate may need to eat more often. "But to answer your unfinished question. Your adversary - and we had hoped it would not be the Brazen Man but his replacement, and thus perhaps less formidable - may have great power, but you yourself can now call on the power of the Pyramid.
