Fred and Adele found, as they had rather suspected, that the source of the blue light was a gigantic sapphire. Frozen within it, as they had also half expected, was a beautiful damsel. "We must rescue her!" Fred exclaimed. "Of course," Adele agreed. "However, striking the gem with your sword, as you did with me, is not the best way of going about it. You were lucky that time, but for me to use my magic would be much safer."

  1. Fred told her to go ahead.
  2. Uneasy about the use of magic, Fred argued with her.
  3. Suddenly seized by a feeling of distrust, Fred ignored her and swung his sword at the sapphire.
