Fred described the plan to Rikotyuki and they went their separate ways. Three days later, Rikotyuki reported to his wife that the treasure had been stolen. His wife was skeptical until he showed her the missing chest. "Well, you better go get it back!" she had said furiously. Rikotyuki, hiding a smile, replied, "Oh, all right. Anything for you, Mrs. Ratty." She pushed him out the cavern, telling him to come back with the treasure in as little as four days. Rikotyuki agreed, not intending to come back anytime soon.
As Rikotyuki walked down the passage to where Fred and the treasure were, he felt bad for duping his wife. But he knew that if he stayed here as her slave for any longer, he would never move forward in life, always being held back by one who loved him no longer (rats are very subject to "greed decay," a breakdown of the mind that destroys bonds of love and fellowship. Fortunately, Rikotyuki was not nearly as susceptible as his wife or even as most ratmen.) As he walked over to Fred, who, smiling and holding the treasure chest, gestured him over, Rikotyuki realized that he felt a bond of friendship to Fred. They were free to accept any quest and slay any evil they wished for the good of the innocent.
