time, since Melissa's comfortable walking pace was now only about one mile
per hour. As they walked, Betty-1 whispered to Betty-2: "Do you think
that's really
Melissa?" Betty-2 looked surprised. "Why do you doubt it?" she
asked. "Because whilst
it might be feasible to miniaturise someone's body without harming
them, could you
do the same to their brain? I was wondering if what appears to be
Melissa could be
an android. That might explain her rather strange behaviour." "I see.
Well, if she
is an android, she's an incredibly realistic one. Look at her hair
and
her eyes, for example. I can't believe that they aren't genuine. I think
she might be either drugged or
hypnotised, though."
Before they could discuss the matter any further, they were interrupted by a strange noise. It sounded like hysterical laughter.
