Rei "I can see you aren't quiet like that but am am curious,” The Master finished, nodding slightly if only to himself as he looked at his newest ‘employer’, “Considering that as a 'xeno' myself I'm . . .oddly curious." ”Heh, I could honestly see valid reason for that curiosity,” I chuckle slightly, fighting down the sudden urge to scratch the back of my head in consternation. Frankly, as actually productive as our last few debacles may have been, I had not really wished to even mention it with the Master and the newcomers here. Frankly, it was pretty scary and disturbing some of the implications from what we learned today…. Things that I doubt that is going to go over too well with some of the folks here who I have not spoken with about, until now. But then again there is no time like the present and that disagreeable business is now done and over, thank God! ”The short answer,” I begin, barely able to snarkily add ‘of which I doubt will cut it for some of today’s viewing audience’. Mustn’t alienate the part of the audience, even if said part shall remain nameless (the Master, cough cough), I have some issues with certain “hobbies” he has, being an evil, mass murdering madman and all that. “Is that while trying to get a certain noble type back to his father so an impending civil war human star empire spanning the Milky Way and forewarn him to lessen it’s impact, if not nip it in the bud entirely.” ”That and we wanted to get the poor guy some medical aid for some serious injuries that I had inadvertently caused him,” I add, wincing slightly at the memory. Accident or not, it was a matter of honor to fix the problem I had caused Warmaster Horus even IF the accident had played out in justifying our trusting him. I just wish he’d not been so far off baseline human in whatever his father had done in Horus’ makeup that even NOW I doubt that magical healing would have done more help than harm. I mean the guy had things like a third lung was just one of many things Horus had inside you just do Not expect inside a human being! Trust me on this since I cannot show you the tricorder readings of the Warmaster, okay? Heck, like his father-- the Emperor of Man—he was immortal (or as close as one can become and not be either a Champion or have gone to hereafter). And let us not forget that the reason why Horus got a massive concussion in the first place had been a dangerous and unexpected reaction between MY magic and his psyker powers. A healing spell might accidentally just have murdered him than healed him, really. Not without a LOT of study would I felt comfortable attempting such a feat… ”Instead of finding our intended destination: a parallel Earth which the natives of the 30th millennium AD called Terra for some utterly weird reason of irony,” I continue, smiling slightly at noticing that the psychic influence on my mode of speech from that rather violent meeting of the minds I had with Horus earlier is finally wearing off. “We took an apparent wrong turn while travelling through the Hellmouth and ended up in the dark parody of that 30th millennium’s hopes and dreams and instead . . .landed in the universe o’ Warhammer 40K.” Naturally, both the Doctor and the Master aren’t familiar with the tabletop game to recognize the name. Recognize the true horror of the mess my group stepped into there. Betty and Ragan do recognize it though by the way the color just drained from their faces, but I digress. Instead, I enlighten both Timelords by . . .er . . .borrowing material I recall from researching 40K for an art commission I eventually turned down (http://tvtropes. org/pmwiki/ pmwiki. php/Main /Warhammer 40000). It’s as light of way of describing the mess I can manage and I want and need to keep it as light as possible because dark and grim will only slow down Setsuna’s recharging time. Got to remember that a Sailor Senshi’s attacks are linked to their confidence and feelings. Negativity only weakens them a bit but still….. We need Sailor Moon here back up on her feet aap to get this Quest done PDQ before something goes SNAFU and we are all SOL! Had too many close calls as it stands, thanks. ”Short answer: we ended up in one of the worst realities one would care to contemplate due a combination of a wrong turn and . . .a bit of fate,” I finish, glancing pointedly at Buffy (who has at least the decency to look a bit embarrassed). Bother, being a subject to a prophecy one didn’t even know about and all the key players (the frelling God Emperor being tripped up by his own loyal, fanatical people) was . . .unbelievable. I want answers! “That, in a nutshell, is why I and my friends here . . .dealt with a bunch of fanatical, xenophobic arseholes with a fondness for burning things. Not by choice, you see but necessity. “If it wasn’t for a sneaking suspicion that we had an honest go God angel at our back I would be even more upset about visiting that forsaken reality. Thank Heaven Setsuna sealed the way there because I bloody well don’t want anything coming from there to here.” ”Did that answer your question well enough for your needs, Master?” I finish. Giving me something of a bemused look he nods. Something really tells me as light as I’d like to have kept things some of it had even shaken this evil Timelord. ”And that is one of the reasons why I and my fellow Timelords do not like to tarry to far from our home reality/timeline,” the Doctor mutters to himself. “And to think that there are things out there that make the #$%# Daleks look warm and fuzzy?” That bit of uncharacteristic profanity goes by without a hitch by most in the room. Frankly, the cursing just was too . . .right for the situation. ”Buffy, I would like to know more about that prophecy myself if only to feel a wee bit better about leaving the Emperor’s long lost kiddies there. I already rather figured out the basics.” Basically, the infants would have been remanded to someone/anyone else of the Emperor had bollixed things up with the Prophecy, proving to be unworthy of being their father. Buffy had more than strongly implied that fact before parting ways. But somehow I feel that the infants return had a deeper meaning as well…
