An ironic voice . . . .

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 91478

"Ah, but let us not get into yet another needless bickering session!" the Master then smiles a charming (if creepy) smile. "Not like anything . . .!"

"Mustn't bicker!" a female voice interrupts, stopping everyone in their tracks as they look at where the waylaid, transmogrified Time Lady Romanna lay.

A few seconds of silence greets that outburst by the poor woman who has nothing more to add than a soft, feminine snore.

Great, not only do we have Romanna giving her two cents worth even while unconscious we have the Master of all the bloody people being the voice of Reason here! Rei sighs to herself, shaking her head at the inanity of it all. Right up there with the Master being the voice of propriety and scolding the Doctor for being something of a twat earlier about when he first came to there with me.

"You know . . .she has a valid point," the Doctor observes into the silence, unaware of a certain blue haired girls mental grumblings. "And from what you say she was to have been one of my future incarnation's Companion? Intriguing!"

"Well, it wasn't like she will be the only Companion you'll eventually get who was good for more than just getting into trouble and screaming!" Ragan said.

Oi, what until you meet that one Companion with a fondness for explosives! Lilith adds, smiling slightly as her sisters share in the imagined looks on both the Doctor's and the Masters face if they should ever meet up with Ace.

Nice girl Ace, but sometimes her explosive habits can be . . .messy if one isn't too careful and leave at that. The Master almost came to a very messy end back on one particular planet when the girl had deliberately tried to end the villain, you know!

"Indeed !" the Master adds, nodding towards her and her brown haired analog (also unaware of the irony of the winged women's musings). "I must say that I'd be remiss in not acknowledging that with your recent Companions here and now! In another setting the insight they had on the Land of Fiction could have been most useful I believe . . .if it had not been transformed into a prison for that demonic woman Akagi!"

The Master actually shudders slightly at the memory.

"Rassilon help me if I ever run into a monster like that again," the evil Timelord mutters to himself, gourd rising slightly as he remembered that vomit inducing terror the woman had made of her own features.

Hey, don't look at the Master like he's some kind of pansy who's shocked at the real world sometimes gory nature. There's a VERY good reason for it we'll see soon enough here!

"Well, truth be told the Doctor's female companions-the ones up to something around his fourth incarnation-- did actually have their moments . . .it's just that the I blame the script writers and the BBC for not showing stronger woman at the time and all that," Betty said, shaking her head. "Was very frustrating at times really, that. Lots of lost potential..."

"Hmmm," both Master and Doctor hmmed, recalling certain things they'd witnessed in woman companions the Doctor had over the years. Maybe they had missed a beat or three underestimating Jo Grant and such.

Maybe.

And it made them wonder what the future (if there was to be a future for SOME if things didn't work out as hoped for) would bring; potential interesting times and such, anyway.

The Timelords then look over at the young women with the wings and then at each other. AT least in one potential timeline (if thing had been different) the Doctor had gotten some VERY interesting Companions indeed judging by Rei and her sisters alone. Quiet exotic, really.

"Eyes up gentlemen," Fred coughed, seeing certain individuals eyes lingering . . .too low for comfort, if albeit done discretely (or so they'd thought). Both Timelords blink and at least have the good grace to look somewhat embarrassed.

Rei and the other women (most of them) don't seem to be put off or offended. Some however look . . .surprised.

"You kidding me?" Ragan mouths to Betty, not having expected that one. This was the Doctor after all, right? Right?!

Point in fact both Betty and Ragan had been of the opinion that at least the Doctor's tastes did not . . . swing that way for various reasons. At least the early incarnations anyway because when one of his female companions had begun to show some kind of interest in him we soon saw him dropping her off and that was pretty much all she wrote for any romantic interests, eh?

Imagine the look they'd have on their faces if they should ever learn of the relationship that one wearer of the power armor (re: 89174) who'd ran interference for them earlier had with Rei's Uncle, eh?

"Hm, but all that said I find I still have a few questions to ask," the Master interrupts before both Betty and Ragan can ask more questions that might lead to embarrassing answers. "Usually I would not pry into such business after being hired by an employer -- I would have done research into the potential employer beforehand you must understand to better know what I would be getting myself into -- but I must ask now, I am afraid.

"Just what exactly was your business with that one group I happened to inadvertantly --hrmph-- overheard before we 'met' for the first time which happened to have a bad habit of . . .well, killing 'xenos' and rejoicing over their death?" the Master asked in a slightly puzzled (and perhaps ironic) voice.

  1. "I can see you aren't quiet like that but am am curious, considering that as a 'xeno' myself I'm . . .oddly curious."
