The four of them stood a short distance outside the TARDIS and looked around them, but the Doctor remained obstinately invisible. "Where could he possibly have gone?" asked Stacy. "There's nowhere to go, just featureless whiteness all around us." "I don't know," said Betty the redhead, "but there's something familiar about this place. I'm sure it featured in one of the early 'Doctor Who' TV series, before the time of this Doctor, but it's so long since I saw it that I can't recall any details." "Nor me," said the other Betty. "But that was fiction, wasn't it?" asked Stacy. "I mean, how could it possibly have any relevance?" "You tell me," said brunette Betty with a shrug.

"This discussion is getting us nowhere," said the Master impatiently. "Since we can't find the Doctor, I suggest that we return to the TARDIS and wait for him." And he turned round to retrace his steps.

  1. Not trusting him in the TARDIS on his own, the others followed him.
  2. One of the women returned with the Master to keep an eye on him, whilst the other two attempted to explore.
  3. But the TARDIS had vanished as mysteriously as the Doctor had done.
