Astra waited, and waited. The queue towards the Pearly Gates seemed not to
move. Suddenly, the old man on the podium called her name in an echoing
voice: "Astra of Aquilaria,
please come forth."
There was much muttering among the other people waiting in line, but Astra ignored it. Astra strode past the fifty people in front of her, towards the man. When Astra had appeared in the queue, she somehow managed to be sporting a dress. She used this dress to curtsy, educatedly, before the old man. "Yes, sir?" she asked. "Your case is particularly... interesting, Astra." Astra was trying to maintain a posture of respect to the old man, but she could think of nothing better to say than, "What do you mean?" "You were a spoiled child, yet while your parents were waging war, you were attending your kingdom's domestic affairs. You were as dutiful in your studies as you were in your training, but that training was to be a ruthless killer. During the times you were in charge, you gave what you could to the poor and tended to the needy; and yet, ever since you met Fred, you've been a bitch to him." Astra was outraged! How dare he! But she tried to retain composture. "Sir, please! There's hundreds of people listening!" "Oh, they can't hear us, we respect the people who want to keep their lives private." Astra was shocked. "Since your case is so difficult, I called you ahead of all these people to tell you we've decided to put you off." "Put me off?" she echoed, questioningly. "We will give you time to think things through, and will deal with your case later. Now, if you could please step back, a moment...
