It all went surprisingly smoothly - at least, Stacy was both surprised and
relieved
that things went precisely as they had hoped.
Within five minutes, Julie was driving Hooker's BMW out of the parking
lot. "I felt
that I knew how to drive," she said, "but I'm relieved to find that I
actually can."
She turned out onto the road and drove off as fast as the speed limit
would allow
- or perhaps a fraction faster.
"I'm afraid this is as far as my planning actually went," Julie said, "so what do you think we should do now?" "Go to the police, I suppose," said Stacy. "After all, our transponders should be fairly compelling evidence that our story is true. We need to do it quickly, so most of the personnel will still be at the building we've escaped from when the police turn up there in strength. Once they realise we've gone, I daresay they'll have an emergency dispersal plan that they can put into operation."
