March of the Rotten Vegetables

Even though the game had just started, Bruce was resourceful enough that he was already preparing to depart from his new base of operations. He had quickly tracked down someone who was willing to rent an older model SUV to him for cheap. The vehicle was up there in mileage, but Bruce was told that it still "ran great", and that was all that mattered.

Bruce scarcely had time to get used to the small house that the I.G.O. had built for him prior to dropping him off in Masset, the largest village on the Queen Charlotte Islands. Gathering up the paperwork left behind for him, Bruce already figured out his plan for the next six months. Following the Yellowhead Route, Bruce would take his time getting to Joplin. He was in no great hurry.

He was also feeling the desire to move on, and meet new people. Some time ago, before the night at Starbucks, and before he and Scott Michael Chen were recruited into this competition, Bruce had made his mind up to break it off with Scott once and for all. Since Bruce already knew that Scott would be completely incapable of taking matters into his own hands for the task of getting back to America, he really didn't feel that guilty about abandoning Scott like that. He just had to grow up at some time and become a man, Bruce thought.

Bruce, who is bisexual but never let on to anyone, including Scott or any past male lover that he was, had found himself growing more interested in women over the past year, and he also figured this was as good as time as any to experiment, to broaden his horizons. Hopefully, he could meet some awesome new people while spending time on the Yellowhead Route.

Locking the door behind him, Bruce climbed into his ride, a dark red Ford Bronco. The gas was full, the possibilities ahead were endless. Bruce only had one goal: to make the ferry to the mainland before it shut down for the night. Even though the islands were a beautiful place, with nothing but green and blue as far as the eye could see, Bruce still wanted to get out of there sooner than later.
